For Melissa Crabtree, Lifestyle Director at The Terraces at Kingwood, getting to know residents is part of planning the calendar. Their interests help shape activities such as aqua aerobics, crossword puzzles, Paint & Sip events, live music and happy hour.

For National Activities Professional Day, meet Melissa and the team who help make those activities part of daily life.

Meet Melissa Crabtree, Lifestyle Director.

Born and raised in Houston, Melissa didn’t start her career in senior living. She began in the oil industry. Her path changed after she volunteered at a senior living community, where she found a calling rooted in service, connection and purpose. More than eight years later, she reflects:

“I wish I would have started sooner,” said Melissa. “I can’t believe I get paid to spend time with our residents, hear their stories, and turn what I learn into activities that truly matter to them.”

“Putting a smile on someone’s face every day, helping friendships form, and really knowing our residents: that’s what I love most about my job.”

Melissa doesn’t do it alone. She is supported by a dedicated, long-tenured team:

• Roger Prince, Community Driver, has been part of The Terraces team for 15 years. Having worked in maintenance, engagement and transportation, Roger is known for his kindness, his reliability, his help at events, his DJ skills and his turn as the residents’ favorite bartender at happy hour.
• Denissa Cruz, Lifestyle Assistant, brings experience in assisted living and memory care. She is upbeat, creative and endlessly resourceful, and residents value the warmth she brings to every program.

Together, this team reflects Saga Senior Living’s belief that people make the place.
